The doctrine of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is a major teaching in the Gospels. It is no less extensive than the doctrines of marriage and communion, and more explicit than the doctrines of water baptism and church government. And whenever this doctrine applies, there is more at stake than all of these other doctrines combined multiplied by a trillion. Why is it not a major teaching in our churches and our creeds? How is it not a test for doctrinal orthodoxy and church membership? Rather, it is rarely mentioned, and when mentioned, it is vehemently denied. It is regarded as a problem (that Jesus created!) to be suppressed in counseling.
– The Doctrine that Jesus Weaponized
“Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.” (Matthew 12:31)
For us, January of every year is Blasphemy Awareness Month, where we celebrate and emphasize the true meaning of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. We are not going to do too much this year, since we have just done over six months of daily publishing.
Even so, I consider this doctrine the single most important one for the church to recover. Yes, if I must pick only one, this would be it. So although I have said so much about it, we will review it again with a small number of posts.
Praise be to God for punishing blasphemy against the Holy Spirit with endless hellfire and torture!
