The Axis on Which All Things Turn

The believer’s eyes are fixed on the word of God. That is the only reference point. Everything else shifts. Circumstances speak, but they do not decide. No matter how things seem, the Word has settled the outcome. He does not infer God’s will from circumstances, and they cannot compel him to react or change direction. He rests firmly on the rock that does not move. Everything must fall in line when the believer insists on the reality of the Word.

The believer also has a spine for God. Faith is believing God and committing to everything he says. It does not tolerate doubt or defeat. A faith that merely suffers is no faith at all, but contempt for the truth. It is defiance in disguise, not humility. The believer does not tolerate decline. He does not drift along with the times or let circumstances wash over him. He is called to stand and to advance. He does not second-guess what God said.

The believer puts on the armor of God, not just for protection, but to go on the offense. The helmet of salvation guards his thinking. The shield of faith extinguishes every lie. The belt of truth holds his worldview together as a system. And the sword of the Spirit cuts through anything that is out of line with God’s truth. He prays with clarity and boldness. He knows the Lord of Hosts is with him. So he walks steady, because victory is secure.
