Past experiences are often exalted above the word of God. Betrayal or grief becomes the lens through which people interpret reality, and exposure to religious hypocrisy only strengthens that perspective. Instead of submitting to the authority of Scripture, they enthrone their own narratives as the final judge of truth. This is rebellion. It rejects divine revelation and denies that God alone defines truth and reality.
Suffering is then claimed as a badge of moral authority. Pain becomes a credential that demands sympathy rather than correction. Disagreement is recast as an attack on their identity instead of a call to repent and believe. God’s character is reinterpreted through emotional wounds, and theology is shaped by personal injury. In this posture, they shield themselves from both rebuke and healing. They would rather find comfort in victimhood than be restored by the word of God. God’s word is the sole authority thought and life. Anything else is idol worship.
