Mary was not the mother of God, even though some people like to use this blasphemous expression. She was a mere creation of Jesus, by whom God made all things.

She was out of touch with Jesus since the beginning. There was even a time when she likely thought that he was mentally disturbed, perhaps insane.

Jesus made statements that diminished her role, and he seemed to have disowned her in the spiritual sense, at least until she finally became his follower.

And it took more than three decades before Mary believed Jesus, although it took thousands of people only minutes to believe.
